Dress Shopping: Reddington Bridal

Yesterday, my mom, Renee, Lexi and I went to Reddington Bridal in Park Ridge for dress shopping.  It was the third total appointment I’ve had so far, after seeing David’s Bridal in September and House of Brides in December.  You may remember I had a close call at House of Brides, and, walking away from a hard sell tactic, I was hesitant to subject myself to the emotional toll of surrounding myself with salespeople on commission trying to sell me thousands of dollars worth of arranged fabric.  Fortunately, this was a good experience.

There were two women to help me shop at Reddington Bridal, and both of them were very helpful and attentive.  We were the only customers in the shop.  They were not pushy at all, and helped me not feel pressure to buy today.  However, she did tell me that I need to order soon because the dresses are coming in early July at this point, and she thought I’d need 3 months for alterations.  That seemed a bit ludicrous, but it does reaffirm my goal to get this dress shopping thing over with this month.

I found a dress I was rather comfortable in that looked rather pretty.  I didn’t feel like buying anything that day, since I doubt I could spend that much on something without so much as sleeping on it, and I’m kind of glad I did.  After I got home, I looked at the photos my mom took and the dress did not look at all like what I remembered.  It really does not photograph well.  I was heartbroken.  The dress that looked so pretty in person just looks so plain in photos.  Even the manufacturer’s photo of the dress is rather unimpressive.  I found myself going back to photos of the dress I liked at House of Brides more.

I have two more appointments this week, one at A Joyful Occasion in Naperville and one at Wedding Belles in Barrington.  Hopefully, I will find something at those places.  If I still come up empty handed, I will likely make appointments at Demetrios Bridal in Schaumburg and Jasmine Bridal in Lombard.

I want to send a special thank you to all the ladies who have been patiently attending these with me… and wish me luck.
