The Best Western Plus …?

Best Western Plus Schaumburg

Best Western Plus Schaumburg

Yep, it has been a while since I’ve posted.  The wedding planning has been taking its toll and Jim did some valuable research for me on the wedding planner front.  After meeting with two of them, we ruled one out and are still in talks with the other.  In the meantime, Jim talked me into setting up an appointment at the Best Western Plus, the hotel attached to the bar/restaurant Entre where his friend Junior (brother of groomsman Victor) works.

It was not much like any Best Western I had seen before.

The inside was newly renovated, and the reception hall room has a rather nice outdoor patio, which we could use for the cocktail hour if weather permits. After speaking with the catering manager for a while it was obvious that this place was not quite so common for weddings, likely due to the franchise name. Though she informed us that the hotel will “switch flags” soon – to a much nicer brand.

Package prices are ridiculously low for the Schaumburg area, and the menu doesn’t have all the “bells and whistles” options that most places do, but since Jim and I are pretty clear on what we want now, we basically just have to ask “Can you add this?  For how much?”  Entre is just outside the entrance to the venue, and it stays open until 3am, so Jim is loving that as well.  The catering manager seemed very accommodating, and we have more flexibility to add nice things (like longer bar hours, more bartenders and more personal touches) with the pricing where it is.

So, are we leaning toward this place?  Quite possibly.  We still need the add-ons pricing and ultimately the contract, but it’s hard to find anything wrong with it.
